Activities

Abavusi utilises a number of methods to identify projects. They include the membership submissions, reports (by different government Departments/Municipalities or Auditing) Investigative Journalism and news. Once the project has been identified;  it undergoes internal process in order to determine if it is line with our mission. If it is, one or more of the following steps can be taken:

  • PAIA

We may use Promotion of Access to information Act processes to request and review applicable records to confirm alleged wrong doing or confirm if certain allegations are true.

  • ENGAGEMENT

We may meet the party in question with a view of resolving the matter amicably. Should Abavusi and the affected party fail to reach an agreement, the matter could be escalated within the Department, organisation or institution to seek resolution.

  • USE OF CHAPTER 9 INSTITUTIONS

Abavusi will try by all means to resolve matters as peaceful and as professional as possible but, however, other matters may require an investigation by chapter 9 institutions such as the Public Protector; Auditor General; SAHRC and CRL rights Commision.

  • OPEN A CASE WITH THE POLICE

Abavusi will not hasitate to open a case against anyone if we feel there is a criminal activity that may require Law enforcement agencies to investigate. These could also include reporting the matter to the Hawks.

  • LITIGATIONS

Depending on the matter, where Abavusi and the affected party do not find each other, the matter may have to be resoved through the court processes.
